Does Delta Dental PPO Cover Implants, Crowns and Invisalign in 2027?
Most Delta Dental PPO plans help pay for crowns, and many cover part of implants and Invisalign, but the details depend on the plan your employer or you chose. The fastest way to know is a benefits check before treatment, which our Delta Dental dentist in Fremont office does for every patient.
How Delta Dental PPO coverage usually works
Many PPO plans, including many Delta Dental plans, group treatment into three levels. Your plan's numbers may differ.
| Category | Examples | Common coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Preventive | Exams, cleanings, X-rays | Often 100% |
| Basic | Fillings, simple extractions | Often around 80% |
| Major | Crowns, bridges, implants, dentures | Often around 50% |
| Orthodontics | Invisalign, braces | Only if your plan includes it, usually with a lifetime maximum |
Crowns
Crowns are usually covered as major treatment, subject to your deductible, annual maximum and any waiting period. Many plans limit how often a crown on the same tooth is replaced. See our guide to crown costs in Fremont.
Dental implants
Some Delta Dental plans cover implants as major treatment; others cover only part of the process or none of it. Because an implant can use most of a year's maximum, many patients split treatment across two plan years.
Invisalign
Invisalign is covered only if your plan has orthodontic benefits. Some plans limit orthodontic coverage to children. You can often pay the rest with FSA or HSA dollars.
PPO vs. DeltaCare USA (DHMO)
Delta Dental also sells DeltaCare USA, a prepaid DHMO plan with an assigned dentist and fixed copays. The coverage above applies to Delta Dental PPO plans. Check your member card to see which you have.
Five things to check in your 2027 plan
- Your annual maximum and how much is left
- Your deductible
- Waiting periods for major work
- Whether orthodontics is covered, and for whom
- Whether your dentist is in network
