PPO Dental Insurance in 2027: Choosing a Plan and a PPO Dentist in Fremont
For most Fremont families, a PPO dental plan gives the most freedom: you can see any dentist, and you pay less when that dentist is in your plan's network. Before you enroll for 2027, check four things: the annual maximum, waiting periods, coverage levels, and whether your dentist is in network.
Shine Dental is an in-network PPO dentist in Fremont for most major plans, and we verify your benefits before treatment.
PPO vs. DHMO: the quick difference
| PPO | DHMO (prepaid) | |
|---|---|---|
| Choice of dentist | Any dentist; lower cost in network | One assigned dentist |
| Monthly premium | Higher | Lower |
| Cost per visit | Percentage of the fee | Fixed copay |
| Annual maximum | Usually yes | Often none |
| Best for | Families who want choice, and anyone planning crowns, implants or Invisalign | Mainly preventive care on a tight budget |
Four things to check before you enroll
- Annual maximum. The most the plan pays per person per year. If you expect a crown or implant, a higher maximum matters more than a lower premium.
- Waiting periods. Many individual plans make you wait 6 to 12 months before covering major work.
- Coverage levels. A common PPO pattern is 100% preventive, 80% basic (fillings) and 50% major (crowns, bridges). Confirm your plan's numbers.
- Your dentist's network. Look your dentist up in the insurer's directory, or call the office and ask.
What's new for 2027 in California
- Covered California will offer eight dental plans from five insurers in 2027: Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, DentaQuest, Delta Dental of California and Humana (Covered California). Open enrollment for 2027 starts in November.
- California state employees and retirees can now choose MetLife PPO plans alongside Delta Dental, and some Delta plans have new names for 2027 (CalHR).
Insurance we accept
Shine Dental accepts most PPO plans, including Delta Dental, MetLife, Cigna, Aetna, Guardian and Blue Cross Blue Shield, and welcomes Medi-Cal (Denti-Cal). No insurance? We explain costs up front and offer CareCredit.
